Village Bake House in Niantic

A nice slice of food in Niantic. Solid sandwiches, slightly pricy by a dollar or so.

This place is basic -- like Bob's Burgers. That said, the service is consistent and solid. When my mom introduced me to this place, she said that the egg-sandwiches are the only good thing on the menu. So, I tried the egg-sandwich. It was great, and its "Captain America" big-brother version is significantly even better. The coffee is good as well (like the bitterness of dark chocolate). Great value too. "Captain America and a large coffee." I have ordered that at least 5 times, never branched out. So, I can't really comment on the rest of the menu, but man can these guys make a mean egg-sandwich (it's BIG too, and not too pricey). Worth a try; don't be too surprised if you become a regular.

Went for breakfast sandwiches for the first time today. They were delicious! Best I've had in a while. Lunch menu looks good so we'll be going back soon.

Sandwiches and salads are always fresh and delicious. I stop in when I want healthy fast food.

Wonderful breakfast sandwiches! Had special request egg whites on crossaint & avacado! Carrot muffin was de-lish warm from the oven. We will be back!

The breakfast sandwiches are delicious but 90% of the time they don't answer the phone. 2 days in a row now we've called to place an order after 9am which is when they open and they don't answer. Even though we love the sandwiches it's time to find a new place to go. They should change their hours if they aren't gonna answer the phone. Lost our business.

Nice soup and sandwich

The initial review was a knee jerk reaction to the shop being closed. The food is very good and the prices are reasonable. Recommend

If anyone like Thanksgiving type food all year long like I do go get their Thanksgiving Sandwich... It is such a treat when craving turkey stuffing and cranberry...yummy. It a taste explosion especially with the tart cranberry sauce. It's toasted and on great bread. Also you also get a pickle and a side of potato salad. Great lunch or try their breakfast sandwiches and baked goods...I recommend the Raspberry cookies. Totally worth it.

Went at 2:00 pm. Was told there wasnt enough coffee for 2 large cups.only 2 small. " barista" ( lol) poured out coffee from a carafe and proceeded to put the coffee in the microwave. I asked her when the coffee was made- she replied " this morning ". Left

The Niantic Village Bakery "Chicken Ceasar Salad Wrap" has been my favorite for decades! It is for those who are NOT SHY of garlic and really flavorful cheese. My hubs was a pro at making tableside Ceasars and prefers corn tortillas, so he was resistant to try this. I finally got him to split one with me and as he ate it, he became more & more of a believer! Now every time he makes the trip to the nearby Book Barn, he takes a cooler to bring back 2 large ones! If returning to work, have a "half-sour" pickle afterwards then something lemon or mint. If not, the potato salad is nice with it. BEWARE...IT'S ADDICTIVE!

Periodically go there -- the soups are mostly terrible except for the lobster bisque. Other soups tend to burn your mouth with white pepper or whatever they use. The grilled cheese and tomato sandwich was soggy when I got it home, less than 5 minutes from where I live.

The employees were very kind and their cookies went amazing with a cup of tea! I can’t wait to go back and try something new next time :)
